Flooding and irrigation
Over the years they had many flooding because of the rivers around Mesopotamia. They did not know what they could do to fix the problem. Soon they came up with an idea of an irrigation system. These Irrigation systems were systems made of canals and ditches to contain the water and move the waters to areas that needed it . This helps the farming industry so that the farmer's field doesn't flood or get too dry. This perfect moisture is best for the plans and lets them grow.
Background Story
The original story in how they found out the seeds of the plants could grow through soil is a funny one. Over the years people would store their seeds underground for the winter. They had these little units in the ground that would hold stuff they couldn't fit anywhere else. So they had these pockets in the ground to store their seeds they used for other things(other than growing). And when spring came after the winter they noticed some green poking out of the ground. They then realized it was coming from the seeds they had kept under there throughout the winter! Now they had a new resource they could use to grow food and harvest for families.
Change, Adapt, depend
Change: Mesopotamia had to change the land when the floods began to happen. They then came up with the idea of the irrigation system to get the extra water where it needed to go. Adapt: Mesopotamia had to adapted to the land when it was cold and when it was warm. They had to adapt to the conditions the atmosphere brought and the problems the rivers brought on. Depend: Mesopotamia depended on these rivers for the fertile the soil, for drinking, and for transportation. These things helped them live. Without drinking water where would they be? Without transportation to other places? Without food? |
